How to Tape Your Fingers

A Step by Step Tutorial on Finger Taping for Jiu Jitsu/Judo

· Tutorials

Step 1: Anchor the tape onto the proximal phalanx of your finger.

Step 2: Wrap the tape around the proximal phalanx of your finger. Move the tape over your finger joint after completing one round around the proximal phalanx.

Step 3: Wrap the tape around the middle phalanx of your finger.

Step 4: Move the tape over your finger joint after completing one round around the middle phalanx.

Step 5: Wrap the tape around the distal phalanx of your finger.

Step 6: Wrap the tape around the distal phalanx again - I personally prefer to wrap it around twice so that it wouldn't slip out of my finger.

Step 7: Move the tape over your finger joint after completing two rounds around the distal phalanx. There should be an "X" on the finger joint.

Step 8: Wrap the tape around the middle phalanx of your finger again.

Step 9: Move the tape over your finger joint after completing one round around the middle phalanx. There should be an "X" on the finger joint.

Step 10: Wrap the tape around the proximal phalanx of your finger again.

Step 11: Tear/bite/cut off the tape and you're good to go! (Unless you still want to tape your other fingers)

Note: You should not be wrapping the tape around the joints of your finger. The "X" should be on the joints of your finger.
